Course Availability

Log in to myNMSU to view the course schedule, check your registration status, class schedule, and add or drop courses. If you do not have a myNMSU account, you can still view the course schedule.

Registration Classification

Your registration date is determined by your classification now, not at the end of the current semester. For example, if you are currently a sophomore but at the end of the semester will be a junior you will have the sophomore registration time. See the table below for more information about classification.

To see your specific registration date, log in to myNMSU and click your Student tab. Select Registration, then Registration Status. The Registration Status page will also show any holds that will prevent registration. You can begin registering at 5 a.m. on your registration date. You can register and/or change classes until registration for the semester ends.

Campus Priority Registration

Students are best served when they take classes on their primary campus. It is there that students have access to advisors and faculty who are most familiar with their degree programs. Other support services, such as financial aid and tutoring, are best delivered from a student’s primary campus.

For that reason students at all NMSU campuses will take 100- and 200-level classes at their primary campus if they are offered there. Students can take courses on other campuses if the course is not offered or if there are no seats available in that course at their primary campus. For example, DACC classes in Library Science that are not offered on other campuses will be open to students system-wide. Students can also register for courses on another campus when those courses are full on their primary campus, and students at NMSU-LC can register for developmental courses on any campus.

Exceptions will be authorized by Academic Advisors when they are consistent with the intent that students take courses on their primary campus In support of student degree and certificate completion.

Two weeks before classes begin each term, students will be able to register for any course on any campus provided space is available and they meet prerequisites. Open Registration dates are noted on the Registration Dates page for each semester.

Academic Sanctions

Students placed on academic warning, probation, or suspension during the end of term grading process will be mailed a notification. Students placed on suspension will have pre–registered courses for future semesters cancelled and applicable refunds made by the University Accounts Receivable.

Audit Option

Students who wish to audit a class need the consent of the instructor.

Financial Aid deferment and disbursement

S/U Grading Option

S/U grading option is available in web registration if the course is only offered as S/U grading. To take a traditionally graded course on an S/U basis, you must provide the appropriate paperwork to your admissions office.

Student Record Confidentiality Form

To ensure that directory information will not be released, a request must be filed in the Registrar’s Office. More information is available on the Registrar’s website.

Withdrawing from the University

Students who do not officially withdraw from a course or from the University and fail to attend class(es) may receive failing grades and WILL BE LIABLE FOR ALL TUITION AND FEES. Students may be required to repay a portion or all financial aid received.

Withdrawing begins at NMSU-A Admissions and Records office located in the Student Services Building.

VA, Financial Aid, and DVR, and any other aid recipients must contact their sponsoring agency PRIOR to dropping a class or withdrawing from the University.

Withdrawal deadlines are noted on the Registration Guide and Course Schedules page, under important Dates for each semester. Check with the NMSU-A Admissions and Records Office for short course withdrawal deadlines.

If you choose not to attend NMSU-A, you must officially withdraw from NMSU-A for that specific term.

Classes At Holloman AFB

Classes offered at Holloman AFB are open to all students; however non-military students must obtain a Holloman AFB access pass in order to access the base for class. For more information see the Holloman Air Force Base page.

Online/Hybrid Class Information

Online/Hybrid classes require special skills, aptitude, and an additional time commitment. Hybrid class(es) will require some class sessions to meet on the NMSU-A Campus.

Classes use an online course management software called Canvas which is located at learn.nmsu.edu . Use the same user name and password as for your MyNMSU accout.

Student Right–To–Know and Campus Security Act

NMSU is required to provide to you information in accordance with Federal Regulation 34 CFR Part 86 of the Department of Education and the Student Right–to–Know and Campus Security Act. You can access the NMSU-A information here

Veteran Students

To be eligible students must be currently enrolled and have received an Honorable Discharge. It is not necessary to be receiving VA education benefits to be eligible. For questions about eligibility and documentation required please contact the NMSU-A Financial Aid Office.
