Eric Brown
I am Eric Brown. I am originally from upstate New York, Syracuse. As I was growing up there, I graduated from Nottingham High School, Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University. I was fortunate to have studied abroad at the Escola Masana in Barcelona Spain during that time.
I came to New Mexico 25 years ago to study ceramics at NMSU where I received my MFA in 2002. I have been practicing art for over 40 years and teaching for over 20. I presently live and teach in Alamogordo. I love New Mexico! I teach Ceramics, Sculpture and Museum Studies at NMSUA.
I originally started teaching here in 2002. I was tasked with bringing the ceramics department onto main campus at the Henry Campbell Art Center. During my first two years teaching, I taught a variety of art classes which included ceramics, Photoshop and art 101G (Orientation in Art).
In 2004, the digital art faculty and myself developed the first online art course. This was the original Orientation in Art offered online through any of the NMSU campuses. I was teaching this course until 2016 with many changes over the years! Come visit me at NMSUA Ceramics!
