Desktop computer or laptop running Windows 10 or higher, Mac OS, Linux or ChromeOS. (You cannot take this course on a mobile device or tablet).
- Canvas does not fully support mobile devices; while there is a free Canvas mobile app available through Apple Store or Google Play, a lot of functionality is unavailable when using a mobile device.
- When you take this course, it is assumed you have access to a computer or laptop for full access to functionality in this course. The use of ChromeBook computer can be problematic for some courses. Make sure to check with your instructor.
Computers can be checked out by the semester through Technology & Media Services. Contact them at 575.439.3767 or 575.439.3790 or in the Science Center Room 104.
Reliable Internet access. Free Wi-Fi is available on campus at various locations and can even be accessed in some of the parking lots. If you are not in Alamogordo, most public libraries have free Wi-Fi available.

Canvas Learning Management system is available at learn.nmsu.edu. Canvas does not work in Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge and has issues with Safari. It is recommended the most recent version of Firefox or Chrome is used.
You will need to be able to read PDF files and watch videos. Typically your computer will have the software already installed to handle these tasks, but if not, here are the links to the free downloads: Adobe Reader and Windows Media Player.
Microsoft Office software which can be downloaded free through Office 365 ProPlus (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, Access, Teams and Skype). Downloading Microsoft Office 365 is free for you as an NMSU student.
To properly hear the videos, you will need speakers or a headset for your computer.
