Safety Policy
The library maintains an emergency action plan for the facility. First aid kits are available from a library employee.
In the event of a medical emergency involving a patron, university security will be contacted. Depending on the situation, the Vice President of Student Services, Human Resources personnel, or local authorities may also be contacted.
In the event of fire, power outage, electrical storms, or other emergencies, library staff will guide patrons in the proper procedures to maintain safety. If evacuation is required, staff will guide patrons outside the facility to the designated meeting location.
Fees and Charges
Library fees and charges are subject to change. These are generally applied to, but not limited to:
• Printing and photocopies
• Lost or damaged materials
• Library cards for public patrons
Payment is accepted in the business office of the University. This includes adding monies to student and public accounts for printing. The library does not accept any form of payment. Fees for returned checks will be determined by the business office. Receipts will need to be provided to the library circulation desk so that payment can be recorded accurately in library account records.
Failure to pay fees and charges will result in the cancellation of patron access to the facility (public patrons), blocked accounts, or restricted library privileges. The library works with patrons whenever possible regarding charges or replacement costs. Holds or additional charges may be applied when necessary.
Late fees are not currently charged at Townsend Library.
