Accessing Databases off-Campus
In order to access the library database off-campus, you will need to begin on library homepage. Townsend Library. Once on the library homepage, you will find three columns. The third column is labeled “Library database”, this is where we will begin.
For this example, we will locate a database called “Points of View Reference Center”. You will use the same login procedure for any resource the library is subscribed to.
There is different way to locate the database you are looking for. The easiest way is to “Find alphabetically”. At the bottom of the column, you will find the title “Find Alphabetically”. When looking for the “Points of View Reference Center”, you will click on [P-S]. You will then be directed to a new screen where a list of databases whose title begins with P-S are listed alphabetically. The “Points of View Reference Center” database is the third title listed.
Once you have clicked on the database you wish to view, a new page will open with a login box in the middle of the page. You will enter your “myNMSU” username in the first box. In the second box you will enter your NMSU ID as your password. Hit the enter button on your keyboard or click on “Validate”. If you have properly identified yourself, the authentic box will close and you will be taken to the database where you can begin your research.
