David Overstreet
David Overstreet was born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and later graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. After a few years of full-time law practice, he returned to Alamogordo in 1998, where he continued his legal career and co-managed a martial arts academy with his wife, Beth. They have one son, Michael. David maintains an active law license which he uses as time permits.
In 2011, David joined NMSU-A as an adjunct instructor. In 2019, he was hired as an Assistant Professor and currently serves as an Associate Professor. He is actively involved with faculty, administration, and staff, fostering a collaborative and dynamic educational environment. Throughout his tenure, he has taught most paralegal and criminal justice courses and serves as the de facto program director for both areas. David finds great reward in guiding students through their challenges in learning the law and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the intricacies of the criminal justice system.
