How to Get Started

Pre-Advising

Pre-Advising provides the student with an opportunity to discuss options and opportunities that are geared
towards the student's academic interests in Allied Health with the Director of Allied Health. Expect to spend
approximately 15-45 minutes discussing your area of interest, course rigor, and Allied Health program
requirements. All students are required to attend a pre-advising meeting.

 

What to Bring to the Pre-Advising Meeting

Clinical Clearance Items:

  • Driver's License or State Issued Identification Card
  • Social Security card
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider's
    card/certificate

Immunization Records
Clinical Clearance Items:

  • Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) (Two Doses)
  • Varicella (Two Doses)
  • Hepatitis B Series (three doses)
  • Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis (Tdap)
  • Tuberculosis Test (two-step)
  • Current Influenza Vaccine
  • COVID-19 Series including booster
  • All items will be copied and put into the student file for the semester.

Getting Registered for the Course

The following steps for course registration will occur once the student has submitted all clinical clearance items to the Allied Health department.

  • Allied Health Director will send an email to NMSU-A Advisors and the student indicating clearance to proceed with course registration
  • To initiate the course registration process, the student must reply to NMSU-A advisors indicating their approval to register for the Allied Health course/s. The following must be included in the email response to NMSU-A advisors:
    • Aggie ID number 
    • Course Information; class name, CRN number, and semester (example: Becky Ross, Aggie ID# 8000000, NA 115 Phlebotomist Technician, CRN 65656)
